A Peninsula Airways (PenAir) plane crashed during landing at King Cove Airport (KVC; ICAO: PAVC) in King Cove, Alaska yesterday (April 26, 2010) at 4:15 PM local time.  Flight 421, a Piper PA-32-301 Saratoga (registration N8305H), was carrying one pilot and four passengers.  All on board are OK according to a Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) report.

There is very little information pertaining to the flight, but it appears the landing gear of the aircraft may have collapsed when it landed.  Winds at the time were 14 knots, gusting to 43 knots, so it’s possible a hard landing as a result of gusts may have led to the gear collapse.  The information available, however, is too little to draw any conclusions at the moment.
