Updated: Ultralight crashes under unknown circumstances near Eklutna, Birchwood in Alaska.
Update: the pilot of the ultralight has been identified as John Jeffrey Bennett.
A passing train spotted the wreckage of an ultralight between Eklutna and Birchwood, Alaska, near mile-marker 138 of the railroad. When authorities got to the scene, they discovered the body of the pilot. The aircraft was spotted at 8:00 AM, but it is unknown when the accident occurred. Investigators are guessing it happened on Saturday (March 13, 2010). The ultralight involved is an Antares MA-32 two-place trike. Because there are no witnesses, there is very little information available about this accident, but I will update as soon as more is released.
