A Cessna 182P Skylane (registration N1986M) crashed soon after departure from Kewanee Municipal Airport (EZI) in Illinois killing one of three occupants on board.  The accident happened yesterday (November 23, 2009) sometime around 5:00 PM local time.  Peggy G. Middleton was the passenger killed in the accident, while husband Harold D Middleton and their 14 year-old grandson survived with minor to moderate injuries.

It is still unknown what may have gone wrong in the crash.  The plane crashed into a cornfield a half-mile south of the airport.  After the crash, the grandson headed back to the airport and 911 emergency services were called to the scene at 5:47 PM.  It is not clear from current reports in which direction the plane was headed, although the couple are said to be from Missouri and that they were picking up their grandson.
