A pilot is OK after the airplane he was flying in suffered an engine power loss immediately after takeoff out of Ogden-Hinckley Airport (OGD) in Ogden, Utah. The accident occurred on Thursday (May 28, 2009) at 9:20 AM and involved a Maule M-5 Strata Rocket (registration N315X).
Pilot Jack Lowrey had just took off on a flight to deliver the airplane to its Alaskan owner when he radioed the tower about an engine power loss. It appears he initially began to turn back to the airport, but thought better of it and made for a field located about a quarter mile north of the airport. He crash landed in the field.

Lucky for Lowrey, he had just installed a shoulder harness in the aircraft, which may have helped save his life. An employee at an airport business stated that the plane had been stored in a hangar for a long time.
