Two people were killed when a single-engine plane went down in a field near Route 34 north of a private airstrip in Sandwich, Illinois (DeKalb County).  The accident happened at 1:50 PM today.  The airplane, a 1946 Engineering and Research Company (ERCO Ercoupe) 415-C was destroyed in the crash.  The airplane’s registration number is N87384 and is registered to Randall S Hougham, who died in the accident and was flying at the time.  The passenger was Lauren Hamilton.

According to witnesses, the plane seemed to be having some sort of engine trouble.

Weather at the time of the crash was very good and was probably not a factor in the accident.
